April Newsletter

Dear Family, Friend, Colleagues, Students and Parents,

The ACO season came to a close last week with a series of performances in Palm Beach Gardens, Vero Beach and Stuart. The program featured a new work by Hannah Lash titled “Facets of Motion:”.  Alon Goldstein dazzled and charmed the audiences with his performances of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.3.  The orchestra under the direction of David Amado concluded the season with Brahms’ glorious Symphony No.2. I have heard the same comment from many in the audience , “I wish the season were longer !”. The members of the orchestra feel the same way.

But you still have the chance for one more “orchestral fix”.  The Brevard Symphony Orchestra has one more Masterworks Concert on Saturday, April 14th and Sunday, April 15th. We end the season with a bang! Prokofiev’s orchestral showstopper, his 5th Symphony. Also on the program, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, one of his last and finest works. Saturday’s concert is at 8PM in the King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne, Sunday’s will be at 7:30 at the Community Church in Vero Beach.

There is also a chance for you chamber music fans to hear “Trio Joie de Vivre” This is an ensemble of myself, violist Sandy Robbins and harpist Deborah Fleisher. We will be performing works of Debussy, Bach and more! That concert will be at the ACT Theatre in Stuart on Saturday, April 28th at 7PM. Seating is VERY limited as this is a true chamber music space.

In next month’s newsletter I will spell out all of the repertoire for the following season. I think it would be fun for us to explore different recordings together during the course of the summer!

Students and Parents: Please let me know what your summer plans are. I would like to put together a summer practice plan for every student.

This and That: The FIRST thing I plan to do when the season ends is to replant my herb garden. Then I will go through the process, as I do every summer, of setting up a folder with ALL of next year’s repertoire and getting to work on it throughout the summer. THIRD, I will print out the schedule for the Washington Nationals and stick it on my fridge so as to not miss a game!
