May Newsletter

Hello All,

Happy Spring! I had the most marvelous experience this morning to welcome in May. The Berlin Philharmonic is on their European tour, and this morning at FIVE AM, our time, the concert was broadcast live from the Musee D’Orsay in Paris! What a wonderful program. A mixture of French and German works, including Afternoon of a Faun. The soloist was bass baritone Bryn Terfel and the program ended with Wagner’s Magic Fire Music. The setting was so beautiful and it made the whole concert rather overwhelming.

Back here in Florida, there is only one more week to my season. This Saturday, May 4th at the King Center in Melbourne, members of the BSO accompany the Brevard Chorale in Bach’s monumental B Minor Mass. The concert is at 7:30 PM. The next day the BSO presents it’s annual “May Pops” at the Windsor Polo Club in Vero Beach.

After that it is Mother’s Day weekend with my son. I am so looking forward to that! I will give you a full report on how he is doing, as many of you ask about him often. It sounds like he is settling to his job very nicely.

My summer plans include the usual – starting to work on the music for next season. (Yes, already!) My garden is doing very well. Especially the bananas. They are going – OK, I’ll say it – BANANAS! Also I am back to my routine of early morning beach walks. I have also begun classes at the local yoga studio which I am enjoying very much.

Enjoy May – “Work Hard, Be Nice”
